I have a 1974 2.0 with hub-centric (front) OEM steel wheels and want to swap to Fuch style alloy wheels to use for track days and autocross.
The more I look at aftermarket wheels the more confusing it gets, so I am looking for real-world suggestions. I am sure this subject has been beaten to death on this forum, but using the search feature has gotten me nowhere. What are you using? |

I think the OP is talking about 4 lug fuchs.
so those are going to be 5.5 wide without options. sellers of aftermarket repos... possibly make these in VW offset also you really want to find the 914 offset as the VW offset rims can create clearance issues.... probably can find used OEM and you won't have to worry about it. you'll also need 16 of the longer lug bolts that the factory used on these rims. 205 is generally the widest tire that fits under stock flares. some people have trouble with 205's, and end up using a 195 section width tire. the 195 is the safe bet. regarding tires. if your going to be on the track or auto x best to get summer only or track tires but get as sticky as your budget allows. brant |
