This is my first post on this forum, so forgive me if the issue has been covered before. I couldn't find it using the "search" feature. Probably common knowledge in the 914 community. Recently purchased a decent 1975 1.8 here on Hawaii island. There have been a number of small issues that I've had to deal with, but this one has me stumped. The turn signals only operate when the parking brake is engaged. Any ideas?

Where'd you get the car? I don't think Gunner sold any of his. Was this from Punawele St.? I know there was a copper 75 living there with at least one parts car.

Sounds like a wiring or grounding issue.

Do you have any manuals for the car? Wiring diagrams would be very good to have.

Jeff Bowlsby's Tech Notebook page has labeled drawings of the turn signal buckets showing what wire goes where. That's a good place to start.
