My 2.0 (actually probably about 2.2 with oversized cylinders) car has had a Webcam 73 in it since a complete overhaul in 2010. I have used the usual recommendation of .006 intake and .008 exhaust for 15 years. I recently read something (and I can't recall where) that said that with the Webcam, the exhaust should be at .006. I know the 1.7 and 1.8 engines called for that, and maybe the source was referring to those engines, but I am curious. It's time for another adjustment. I've always assumed that a bit more clearance might mean the engine will be noisier, but it's less likely to be a cause for deep regrets that setting them too tight. Anybody ever heard this suggestion for .006 on the 2.0 cars?

My understanding is that .008 was used when VW used sodium filled valve's , the cam used has no bearing on this and is recommended because sodium exhaust valves are a thing of the past . You will be fine with .006 ,cheers. |

I guess the disposal problems outweighed the thermal improvement. |
