Well, I'm stumped. Short of disassembling my engine again I have no other guesses.

No P&Cs, just crank and rods installed. Crank turns and moves fore to aft freely. No shims, no rear main seal, no flywheel o ring. When bolts are seated but not torqued, crank is frozen. As soon as i loosen the flywheel bolts, I can rotate crank and have some fore to aft movement. I swapped flywheels, same symptom. I'm thinking bearing problem but I am hoping I did something stupid and don't have to tear it down.

Wild guess.

Is the flywheel hitting something on the back of the engine case? Like a plug(s) in the oil galley(s)?
