Little over a year ago I installed a 123 BT distributor. I never could get it to pair to my phone or iPad. Set it with a timing light and car ran fine. Got on an AX course and found the rev limiter was set at 5K. Had to shift into 3rd before I was ready. Went back to see if I could get it to pair. I was working with 123 Tech Support (Ed) who was extremely patient and responsive. After a few days and failed attempts at resetting the dizzy, Ed asked me to send it to him. In the mean time, I figured I would install an 050, I’ve had for about 25 years and a Crane Fireball 7000. Didn’t bother bringing it to TDC as I was installing it in the same orientation. Wired it up and no start. Moved the distributor throughout its range got a couple of backfires but no attempt to start. Figured I should start from scratch and put the car up on my lift. Removed the drivers side valve cover, put the car in gear and both tires spin without rotating the engine. Finding the nut, in front of the fan is a pain and have used the wheel method on my 912’s for years. No idea why the wheels just spin? Yes, I tried both wheels and various gears.
Any 914 reason I can’t use this method to find TDC? Thanks, Tony |
