I (perhaps stupidly) entered my 914 to be part of a High School homecoming parade. I figure I can either carry one passenger (seated), or perhaps 1-2 seated up on the targa bar. This will be strictly parade duty; probably 5mph.

It putting one or two people up on the targa bar a non-starter? Am I putting my rear window and/or bodywork at risk?

One of the advantages of weighing a bit less is not warping stuff. Even if they didn’t dress warm enough

Well, they could wear less. To save weight, of course.
