Good afternoon everyone,
I question if I may. I have just been watching Ian Karr's new video on Youtube on his 914/6 project and it reminded me to ask you good people a question. Just above the door lock in the door jamb there is a hole/tube, what is that for? It appears to go up into the sail but not into the engine bay. I have just had a look at my car, shined a torch into the entry hole but there is no light to be seen. Enjoy your Sunday afternoon. - Tony |

an interesting one i came across.
completely rusted out 6 that was for sale at the "salubrious" dealers in LA. vent covers are there. think this one is very trustworthy as its obvious no one has really touched this car except to apply some lipstick in the odd place to make it appear somehow more complete than it was. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) a vent cover can also be detected peeking out on this 916. which were based on 71 914/6s i believe. but having said that, the yellow 916 auctioned a year or two back did not have the vent covers. however it had been restored. so could easily have lost them. i think given these covers were to some extent rust traps with the foam filter in behind them any car that has been restored has likely had them removed for fairly sensible reasons. and most 914/6s have been restored at this point making it hard to find an unmolested example that has been documented. my opinion is that the 6s originally all had these vent covers. during the same period from 70 to start of 72 the 4s did not have them. as noted above. whatever goes on with later years of ROW 4s is very hard to determine. one reliable example seems to suggest not all those 4s got them originally. very safe to assume that all USA bound cars from 72 on got these vent covers. |
