The torque spec from Bilstein was 95ft lbs + or - 7ft lbs (little paper instruction insert that comes with the inserts) for the strut insert retaining nut. I had a clunk from the left front on my father's 914 before I replaced the strut inserts. Found the left front strut insert retaining nut was finger tight from the person who installed them in a repair shop many years ago before I started to go through my father's 914. I torqued the retaining nuts to spec with the Bilstein tool adapter when I put the new strut inserts in. No more clunk.

The torque spec from Bilstein was 90ft lbs (little paper instruction insert that comes with the inserts) for the strut insert retaining nut. I had a clunk from the left front on my father's 914 before I replaced the strut inserts. In some of the posts pipe wrenches were mentioned- not here, in a suspension forum (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |
