I am restoring the 1973 914 my dad had when I was growing up. It has a 1.7L motor. I know I will need 2.0 liter heads. What do you recommend. There is a great price variance. I assume I will also need 2.0 headers among other things.

I run DJet so I was constrained by that. I basically followed Jake’s advice. The one thing I wanted was a nice car that had decent torque that I didn’t have to spin up to 4500 to get in the power band.

If you have the fuel injection system it’s worth saving IMO. It works really really for a street car. Carbs just are a different set of challenges.
