My '74 Saturn Yellow with black painted Fuchs wheels has chrome bumpers.
I have a line on a pair of early (70-74) black bumpers here from someone I know that look OK (from pictures) and would be relatively inexpensive. Going to have a look on Saturday. They probably need a little rework in any case, plus of course paint. I guess the original finish on these was the same sort of semi-matte black as are on the rocker panels and valences? So my idea is to try a sort of reverse-Bumblebee scheme replacing the chrome bumpers with the refinished black ones. OK, I don't have a front spoiler (yet), but... The LE bumpers were finished in body accent color, i.e. glossy. So I would paint the bumpers in gloss black. Hmm maybe the foglight grilles would need to be in yellow? Stupid idea?
