Hello,
The replacement heater cables sold by many of the vendors include a red sleeve slid over the cable wire (see photo below). The cable I purchased has this sleeve on the longer right side of the cable. What is the purpose of this sleeve? Is it meant to be inserted at the end of the cable guide tube at the firewall to reduce friction? If so, what keeps it in place, and why doesn't the left side have one? ![]() |

Guessing for the bend in the middle where wire goes through lever I thought that as well, but the diameter of the sleeve is much too large to fit through the hole in the lever. I then thought well maybe it is heat-shrink tubing - so I tried hitting it with a heat gun, but nope. Still a mystery. |
