I went to put in new KYB shocks today was was surprised to see this type of top on the shock tubes. I thought it would be the type I could just spin off with a hammer and screwdriver. Can I do the same technique in the inner slot or do I need something that goes into the holes on the sides?
Thanks!

It is rebuildable but cost more to rebuild and ship than to just buy new. Of course if you are modifying with external adjusters, you need a core.
