Hello 914World,
my previous (no longer my current...) mechanic just did some electrical work on my wiring and promptly shorted out my working headlight switch so I am in need of an OEM replacement or information on where I can get an identical working, new replacement. My search online for a new OEM or even a RePop has resulted no finds. I am still a newbit at the 914 thing so it could be lack of knowledge as well. I tried the common West Coast suppliers and didn't see anything and an EBay search leads me to believe it's not an available part new any longer. I have a '73 original 2.0l car converted to 3.0l 6 from '79 911 SC. Any help appreciated. Much Thanks |

The switches can be cleaned up and likely repaired, depending on the damage.
Grind off the corner swaged-case metal, fix/clean the insides, then when reassembling, use a zip tie as a temporary hold, but apply an epoxy fill at the corners for a durable repair and remove the zip tie. The epoxy can be ground off in the future if needed for a future repair. |
