This '75 is my second 914, the first was a '72 that was great while it lasted. I bought both rust free cars in New Mexico and was fortunate enough to gather several loads of parts over the years. This '75 is a general conglomeration of things like put together on a 914.

I found an ad on Craigslist posted by an American Muscle Car guy who was threatening to scrap the 1.8L 914 after running the ad several times with no takers. I got it for $500 plus it came with fender flares that were never installed.

Hi everyone. I have these two sets of crossmember mounts...

1. In regards to the unpainted ones, the engine crossmember leans forward when I installed them. Each one appears to have buckled the same amount, or is this another version that was produced?

either way I took them out and put the painted ones in

2. In regards to the painted ones (that I don't know where they came from), someone welded a reinforcement which seems like a good idea... I have them on the car now and the crossmember does not lean forward.

BUT with the black ones installed the engine leans an inch or so lower on the left side (didn't look for this with the other mounts installed) than the right side... so all the way back to the muffler leans as well.

Besides all the hoopla regarding the mounts, what should I consider when trying to level the everything out? ... twisted body (don't think so), shims(?), engine trans & alignment, shifter alignment....axle angles etc?

Thank you for slogging through this and any recommendations
