After hearing my 45 year old Hoffman service lift complain while raising my 2100 lb.
car, I knew it was time for action.
It was purchased new by Jaguar Cars North America while they were headquartered
in Leonia, New Jersey. I bought it from them ~1993
Luckily I was able to get OE service and repair parts from Germany ... pre-tariff
thank goodness.
This included V belts, a chain, chain guides and lift nuts and safety parts.
I was even able to get a service and repair manual ( PDF ) from the current
Hoffman organisation in the US.
While I was at it I modified the lift arms to more easily swing them under my
lowered car. I cut and lowered the arms 1 1/2" and welded with added gussets.
After plenty of de-greasing, cleaning, welding, re-assembly, adjusting and painting
it's back at work.

What part of the lift was having issues? Anything that is replaceable? Tired motor? Looks like a nice lift.

.
There is a minimum distance between the safety nuts that been reached.
The lifting is done by a very tall Acme threaded shaft. The safety is is provided by two
jam nuts that grow closer as a wear increaces. The limit had been reached.
The lift would not go up...only down.
All three nuts were replaced and adjusted as well as coordinating chain and guides.
The motor is fine. All worn parts were replaced including sprockets that were no
longer available. I was able to modifify the sprockets that were available.
All good.
Future availability ? No guarantee.
