I'm fumbling my way through the engine harness wiring for our 914-6 engine with CDI and Marelli distributor (no condenser). It's on a test stand at the moment, but I don't think that will complicate these questions. I have a new aftermarket engine harness.
Can anyone confirm or clarify the following: 1. Would the coil ground ring terminal (brown) go to the fan housing stud where the coil bracket mounts? 2. There is a ring terminal branching off the Points wire (black-blue) labeled CDI ground. AFAIK the ground terminals on the CDI are male spades. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Not sure what to do with this. I guess I could try to fit it on the terminal retaining bolt? Or am I misunderstanding the intended location for this? 3. On the diagram I have there is a IGN_Coil_GND to CDI_GND connection (combined with Throttle_Position_GND). Do I still need to make a brown wire going from the Coil negative post to fan housing stud coil mounting bracket? 4. With CDI, there is no wire directly from the coil to the distributor? Thanks. ![]() |
