I'm fumbling my way through the engine harness wiring for our 914-6 engine with CDI and Marelli distributor (no condenser). It's on a test stand at the moment, but I don't think that will complicate these questions. I have a new aftermarket engine harness.
Can anyone confirm or clarify the following: 1. Would the coil ground ring terminal (brown) go to the fan housing stud where the coil bracket mounts? 2. There is a ring terminal branching off the Points wire (black-blue) labeled CDI ground. AFAIK the ground terminals on the CDI are male spades. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Not sure what to do with this. I guess I could try to fit it on the terminal retaining bolt? Or am I misunderstanding the intended location for this? 3. On the diagram I have there is a IGN_Coil_GND to CDI_GND connection (combined with Throttle_Position_GND). Do I still need to make a brown wire going from the Coil negative post to fan housing stud coil mounting bracket? 4. With CDI, there is no wire directly from the coil to the distributor? Thanks. ![]() |

Hey Michael
The ring terminal near the dizzy spade attaches to the chain housing cover stud closest to the fan belt. It is a ground to the engine for the CD One male spade on the CD remains vacant. In the pic, bottom left of center you can just see the nylock nut that secures the ring terminal. Man, I have some cleaning to do. Rory The nut is clearly seen in your photo !!
