I recently bought new rotors for my 74 but they are too small in diameter so they won't slide all the way on. They were purchased based on model year so I'm confident that I was sent the proper size. The seller suggested that the spindles aren't original so I've tried to find the diameter of a 74 spindle but can't find it anywhere. I was sure my Haynes would have it listed, but no luck there. Google had nothing as well. If anyone here has that info I would appreciate it. Thanks.

If the bearings you bought are correct for your spindles, it's not uncommon for them not to want to slide on all the way if you don't have the bearing lined up perfectly straight when trying to mount the rotor assembly.
If in doubt, use calipers to measure the diameter of the spindle an the ID of the bearing. |

If in doubt, use calipers to measure the diameter of the spindle an the ID of the bearing. I will go this route, it only makes sense. I don't have calipers and that's why I haven't yet but I'll buy a set. The bearings stop sliding on with so much distance left to go, plus the fact that they both stop sliding on at the same spot on each side made me automatically think that they aren't correct for my spindles. This will be interesting. Thank you. |
