Hi to everyone. I just picked up a 1970 914/4. It needs a lot of work. It came with the engine and transmission out of the car. The engine was under a tree covered with some plastic. It turns but after about a quarter turn something is stopping it inside.

The engine serial starts with EA, which I think makes it a 1972 or 1973 1.7. Definitely not original to the car. No starter, no alternator, no exhaust, no FI. The transmission was in the frunk.

I'll be tearing it down in a couple of weeks. I'd like to make some mild performance improvements. Looking for reliability rather then horsepower. A budget build if that's even possible with one of these.

Feel free to chime in with crank, cam, valve possibilities. Looking forward to learning from this forum and sharing my experience here. Thanks, Chris
