Does anybody have a working clock in their center console? It seems like everyone clock has died.

I bought a reproduction clock from Auto Atlanta and it broke in less than a year. Complete waste of money.

Has anybody sent their clock to be rebuilt and if so how did it work out?

I think I read somewhere that only 914 clocks with a date stamp of 75 or 76 can be rebuilt as the internals changed?

@fiacra sent me a clock at cost of shipping. Opened up his clock - it had broken gears as well, but they were at least different broken gears.

An interesting difference b/t the two clocks (mine had an 11/73 date stamp and his had a 5/74 date stamp) was that brass plate at the top of my '73 moment is riveted onto the plastic frame posts, whereas his '74 did not have rivets there - instead it looked like it just clicks/snaps on and off. I wonder if dropping the rivets was a cost savings decision by VDO after 73 production? Initially, I thought someone may have removed the rivets on the 74 during a previous repair, but after doing some research and what others have posted online, it seems like that later clocks did not have rivets.

I would like to try to Frankenstein a working clock together with these 2 movements, but I'm worried about drilling out these super tiny rivets - I don't want to break the plastic. Any suggestions?
