I have a very slight oil leak that appears to be coming out of the small notch at the joint between the motor and the transmission. It's really nothing that I'm worried about, every once in awhile there is a drop on the floor... I was just curious, does this indicate that the crankshaft main seal is leaking, or it it the transmission?

take it for a good long drive.
300-400km round trip.
might stop it.

looks like rms to me.

after i recommissioned mine about 4/5 years ago we did the rms while we were doing the clutch - no worries. but obviously did not do the front main seal. and it leaked.
i took it for a big drive. it stopped leaking and has not leaked since. plenty of short/shortish drives since. hour. hour and a half. the big drive got it all sealed up again.

and...to do the rms we only pulled the trans as per jackstanz above. and did the clutch.
and of course did rms while you are there. did not drop engine.

might work for you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
