Hey, has anyone restored the compressed shape of a 914 thermostat? The one I have has expanded and does not appear to have any leaks.
I have removed the solder on the threaded end which revealed a ball bearing. I removed the ball bearing and tested for leaks by compressing the unit and plugging the hole. It kept the semi-compressed shape for several hours and when I removed the plug, air rushed in and it expanded again. Is there a way to restore it to its completely compressed shape at idle so-to-speak? |

I now see what I missed Do you mean the one that AA sell ?, they say ( George ) that they have had no issues with them but they just say that about all sorts they sell so take that as you like ,these unit have no "failsafe" like the OEM one , if they fail the cooling flaps close and the result isn't nice . Best to research as I did certainly not the best option to save $100 IMO. cheers. |

I thought they were offering the original bellows type for $52 but did not see it was actually closer to $200 in cost ,$52 was for a replacement type thermostat. Since I want OEM look I will be purchasing from AP . |
