I’ve had four 914s, but this is my first six, a late eighties with MoTronic FI. It has headers with megaphones… no muffler. Getting ready to install a Dansk sport muffler. Will the MoTronic be able to read the change and adjust or will that need to be done by a humanoid, lol. If the latter, will she run well enough to get her to such a humanoid ten miles away?

If you try to run factory 914-6 heat exchangers with a 3.2, you will be restricting it's horsepower. The 914-6 heat exchangers were designed with a 2.0L motor in mind. The tubes are too small for a 3.2 engine.
I would suggest a set of aftermarket heat exchangers sized for the 3.2 motor. 993 heat exchangers can be reworked to fit a 3.2, and they will flow just fine. There are also aftermarket heat exchangers out there that are copies of the factory units with bigger tubes. And the expression is "There is no replacement for displacement." I should know.
