Testing the windshield washer in our 1970 914-6. When I pull the wiper / washer lever I can hear a slight thud or click and then the wipers cycle. I have confirmed the noise is the electric pump as I can feel it move slightly if I put my hand on it while someone else pulls the lever. Does that mean the pump is good, or does a good working pump make a different noise?

I've been through many threads about the squirters not working, but haven't found much discussion about the electric pump itself.

Thanks.

DennisV....The pumps get gummed up inside and make noise and don't do any pumping...I've actually taken them apart and removed the crud and gotten them to work. also go slow as I think I remember a little thin gasket around the perimeter of the two sides

Thanks for the suggestion John. I cleaned the internals and it's purring along now.

I couldn't find an existing DIY video on this, so I made one. Very utilitarian and not near the production quality of Ian, but maybe it will help someone else.
