I’ve had four 914s, but this is my first six, a late eighties with MoTronic FI. It has headers with megaphones… no muffler. Getting ready to install a Dansk sport muffler. Will the MoTronic be able to read the change and adjust or will that need to be done by a humanoid, lol. If the latter, will she run well enough to get her to such a humanoid ten miles away?

Typically Injection systems can compensate by checking the oxygen sensor(s). But I am not experienced in the Motronic. I have an aftermarket injection computer and it uses the O2 reading to basically minor alter the injection pulse width (to give more or less fuel).

I will say I went from a 2in/2out older M&K muffler to a x-pipe muffler from magnaflow and the hp increase was quite noticeable. Also partially due to the WOT was a little rich on the M&K because of the lower air flow. But I get it, not having a headache at the wheel is a big offset factor.

I would think a factory muffler though would put you more inline with what the motronic was originally designed for, does it have a chip now?
