Can anyone tell me what this is? '75 1.8L mounted behind a black steel bubble low on the frunk core support in front of the fuel tank (driver's side). I thought it might be the fuel filter, but it just doesn't look right.

Remove the fuel pump from the access hole, and you will see the factory Square filter mounted on 2 metal strips. In the following pic you can see the metal strips I mention next to my aftermarket Pre fuel pump HERE:
