Can someone please tell me where the small spring connects to the door panel so the pocket lid has tension on it as I do not see anything. Thank you.

Look deeper gents. The end of the spring engages a hole in the sheet metal door frame behind the grommet.

ah shit. mine is a 74 too.
and i had these bloody cards off 6 months ago lubricating the window winders, locks etc.

buggered if i could figure out the spring when i did that too.
thought i could fix it and just could not see where it connected.
though there is a little tiny tear hole in the vinyl down inside the map case.
but it did not seem to offer attachment of any sort.

not that it worries me too much as the top flap just sits there securely anyway without it

Well as was pointed out earlier in the pictures, there is a metal bezel on the door car under the vinyl usually where the small hole is in the vinyl from tearing and the spring end goes in there and catches on the metal bezel on the back of the door card. I bent the end of the spring slightly to help grab the bezel. It also helps to slightly pop out the side of door card carefully from the clips and shine a light back there to confirm your spring is attached properly.
