I was just telling my son that I knew the clutch cable was going to snap!
On my way home on Friday, it snapped going into 3rd gear! AAA to the rescue! I have 2 cables on the way so I can have a spare in the car with all the connections. Of course, this is not the first time this has happened to me and you would think I would have learned the first time.... Has anyone actually changed theirs on the side of the road before??? Yes, by driving the left side up onto a high curb. Have also limped home last year in 2nd gear when it broke about 1/2 mile from the house.
Also, fixed a Westfalia bus clutch cable in a Safeway (grocery store if you're not familiar) parking lot on the way to Mexico for a vacation on the beach many years ago. Busses have more ground clearance so not as much a problem, if you have a spare cable. Good plan to have a spare, and a couple 11mm wrenches too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . |
