The bottom panel of my center console has always bothered me. The wood core is deteriorating and upon closer inspection I can see that it's been repaired and recovered already. So I cut a new piece of wood for the core. I plan to use vinyl I saved from an old back pad as it appears to be a good match.

Here are my current questions:

1. What glue is recommended for vinyl to wood on center console pieces?

2. I'm going to replace the worn black leather shift boot with 914 Rubber's leather replacement boot. The plastic ring at the base of the factory leather shift boot is cracked and broken in several places. I don't think I'm going to be able to reuse it (trying to remove the staples will probably cause further damage). Any suggestions on a replacement ring?

woodweld contact cement for sure.
As to the boot ring - I was just in mine swapping a good console for a better one and was wondering the same thing. fortunately, mine was re-useable but I really wonder if you need one. I'd try just stapling or gluing the boot in on the bottom side.
