Hi Guys,
I had the front bumper of my car (post GT opening) re-chromed by Ultimate Quality Bumper & Wheel Chroming in Los Angeles back in October of 2023. The owner is Juan. He was easy to deal with and the total turn-around time was about 3 weeks. The problem is the chrome has a bluish cast to it. The first show I took my car to, a couple hot rod guys pointed it out and darn if they were not correct. I have been busy with life stuff and several months ago I commented in a thread about my experience. Another member suggested I call Juan to see about correcting the issue; fair enough. I just talked with Juan and to my surprise he told me all of their chrome has the bluish color as that is the only type of chrome they do. He said everyone wants the blue chrome finish on their cars. He also told me there is nothing he can do since trying to have the bumper re-chromed (by another shop) would destroy the bumper. I told him I wish he had told me their chrome was bluish and not like OEM chrome of the 70's. My purpose in posting this is to let anyone considering sending their bumper(s) to Ultimate Quality Bumper & Chrome Wheels in Los Angeles know you will not receive a traditional chrome finish. If that is OK with you, cool. I am disappointed on multiple levels as I had sent them pictures of my car before I sent them my bumper and told them I wanted a show-chrome finish. In my opinion, that is not what I received. Cheers, Michael (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |
