I put my car back together recently. I think everything is as it should be. Yesterday I started it and it ran for like 10 seconds and then died. I wasn't able to give it gas cause I wasn't fully seated in the car.
Today when I got in the car the generator light was on. I started it and it ran for like 30 seconds then died. The gas pedal seemed unresponsive. Now it will crank but makes no signs of sparking. I'm only getting 7.5 volts on the + side of the coil with the ignition on. |

I still haven't resolved this.
Sometimes when I turn the ignition switch to crank the starter, the car completely loses power. This is a pretty recent development, I think. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect it, the car powers on as normal. Is there some kind of protection relay or something that is getting tripped by maybe a short in the switch? Right now I'm still getting around 6 volts on the + side of the coil with the ignition on. Could my problem have something to do with my ignition switch? |
