Take off the front bumper. 2 bolts are in each of the front fender wells. Then look for the rubber plug in the center of the body behind where the front bumper was mounted. Take out the plug and stick a flat screwdriver into the whole and fiddle around with the latch release until the hood magically pops open for you. Sounds like the hood cable has broken or become disconnected from the latch itself and isn't releasing the latch's mechanism.
