Trunk lid bolt finsih: Yellow or painted? Options

In one of his youtube videos from Auto Atlanta, George says that the rear trunk lid bolts were originally painted. I've never seen an original 914 in person and he's seen many, so I believe him. However, there are two sources that I'll detail below, which suggest that some may not have been painted. In "the few, the rare" thread in the originality subforum, that car (if I recall correctly it's a 73) is said to be completely original and untouched. The bolts and flat washers are clearly yellow cad and the spring washer is black chromate. Here's a pic snipped from that thread (it does look like the lid has been adjusted because there appears to be a shim washer between the bracket and the lid, though it's tough to tell from the pic):



There's a youtube video of what's said by the original owner featured in the video to be a completely original 72 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mS1WNll3hs). It also does not have painted hardware. There are some non-original items on this car including the shift knob and some kind of heat sink looking thing bolted to the padless firewall, but the owner explicitly says that the car has completely original paint which would suggest that the trunk lid bolts are likely to be original. So, I'm wondering what others (who care to think about such minutiae) think is the truth. I'm guessing the truth might be most were painted but for some reason, perhaps even at the factory, on some cars maybe they had to remove the lids and they put back on new hardware when reinstalling. Personally, I like the look of the plated hardware and may end up leaving it that way on my restoration. But I am curious if, given these supposedly all original cars, both ways could be considered to be correct from an originality perspective.

I thought I registered the VIN at the time of joining the world . To be honest , I'n NOT
a computer guy , a friend did it for me . I rarely use my cell phone so more pictures
may be awhile. But if you go to YouTube and type in " best original Porsche 914 in the
world ? " a 30 minute video will pop up.

I don't know the gentleman who made the video and in fact did not know he posted it . Came across it by accident a year or two later. !

For those that are interested my VIN ; 4722914040. Notice the " 914 " L.O.L.

Chassis 1329586. Far as I can tell that's the 13 week of 1972, on a Tuesday and the 86TH car out the door . Someone correct me if I'm wrong .

About 76K on car now .

I'm glad I asked the question if for no other reason than it led to you posting. Your story and car are amazing, and being an original owner of an all original 914 should give you automatic legend status on this forum!

Thank you very much for answering the question on the bolt finish. "Never been touched with a wrench" is as definitive as it gets. It would be great to have a thread on your car with more detailed photos. So few original, untouched examples to go from these days.

Your car is stunning! I recall you saying in the video something to the effect that you are quite fastidious and I knew you were my kind of guy. It's really neat to know that even the shift knob has been on essentially since new. Thanks also for explaining about the pointless ignition; I had no idea what it was.
