I have been asking questions to Ai to diagnose some issues and recently to ask about the oil temperature wire routing etc. I also asked the forum. I do know that there is a way to load the forum into AI so that it will search this forum and all the other information that is available and give results immediately. But like anything on the cloud or the internet, there are some mistakes. For example last week AI told me the wrong layout for the cylinders. It said cylinder #1 and #2 were on the right side the passenger side.
Although we have a ways to go AI is missing the dialog that we have with each other on this forum. I am relatively new compared to most of you but I am truly grateful for the long distance friendships of people I have never met and probably never will. AI will never give us that personal touch and expertise that you all possess. Thanks for all you all do! |

Which Ai?
I use grok for almost everything I have to research. 9 times out of 10 it's a solid answer. If I get a known wrong answer I have been able to point it out and usually it will self correct. I asked it to search 914world once for something and now whenever I have a 914 question it automatically searches here, and branches out to samba pelican rennlist etc. I recently had grok plan my aftermarket ecu swap and with a little back and forth it gave me a solid pin-out list with wire colors (didn't match my harness, but good effort), but it was basically like chatting with an expert. Sometimes experts are wrong too. Did half a days work in an hour. Also did great on my turbo shopping. Gave me a list of options, other parts I would need, power limits, price range, and links to build threads. Helps that my nissan engine is popular for turbos. I still use google for simple stuff. I don't find chatgpt worth it vs grok. How you write your request matters, though grok is pretty good with human language interpretation. Sometimes I feel like I'm the first person to ask a thing, because I'll try again a few days later and get a much better response. |
