Tap the hub out they said... It shouldn't take much force they said...
Ugh, after an hour of slide hammering with very little movement I pulled the retainer plate (not easy with hub in) and yanked the whole assembly off of the trailing arm. Then using a McGyver arrangement of gear pullers (broke one) managed to get the bearings loose from the hub stubs. Race car temps, some rust and age had them firmly stuck....
