Heads-up for fellow teeners: Blaupunkt’s new “Frankfurt Stereo” is coming

I came across this and thought others might be interested.
Blaupunkt is launching the Frankfurt Stereo retro car radio (expected Spring 2026). It’s styled like a 1970s unit, so it should look right at home in a 914 dash, but it still includes modern features like A 3″ Digital Colour Display, DAB+, FM/AM, Bluetooth streaming and hands-free, USB/AUX, and multi-channel pre-amp output.

The form factor and styling look era-correct with the black face, chrome trim, rotary knobs, and push buttons. Could be a nice option for anyone wanting a stock-looking setup with modern functionality.

On my original Frankfurt, there is a DIN plug that came on the unit (I think my Frankfurt is circa 1970). I bought and use an Bluetooth adapter that plugs into that DIN. Then hook my phone via Bluetooth. Works flawlessly. It connects as soon as I start the car.

Is this the 6-pin round "input port" on the back? Where did you get it? Is it powered via the DIN plug?

Sorry for such a late reply, Dennis. I got a unit similar to this off eBay. There were 6 pin and 7 pin units available. I don’t recall off hand how many pins my Frankfurt has. But yeah, as soon as I hooked it up and started the car my phone found it and connected. Photo of a similar unit (again…eBay) below. Mine works best when the phone volume is set about halfway and then I use the Frankfurt volume knob to adjust total volume. It’s no concert hall but I can easily hear it at highway speeds with the top off.
