Hey Gang,
I stumbled upon a pretty tattered 914-6 for sale in my area. It sustained some *serious* damage back in the early 80's (according to the ad). Knowing what I know about welding/painting/etc - this car is beyond my capabilities. Knowing what well done 6s are going for, you may not be upside down at the end if you could do the work yourself. The rear corner seems to be the worst of what you can see. Side note, I wonder what this thing looked like in it's hey day? The 80's were a wild time. According to the ad, the car will also include a donor 914 shell for chassis repair, as well as bumpers and other miscellaneous parts to assist with repair. I have the room and most of the skills necessary... (/me starts thinking...) I mean... I've seen Ben install flares... how hard can this be?! Thanks Ted     |

A guy could retire and start a youtube channel documenting the resurrection video series. I could be the next Ian or Chris... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
This is the kind of car that you fix and keep, not fix it to sell it. Hey Chris, can we have a party at the RedBarn where we have Ben come out and put a rear corner on it for me? Yes, it's tempting ... But I agree with what's already been said: LOTS of serious chassis and metal work, plus the "what else needs help?" Not sure it's worth it, at least at the current asking price. But if you do buy it, let me know. I'd be up for helping... |
