Okay friends, now we've got another item of concern on my 73. The throttle cable was tight. So I pulled the board to reveal the cluster. The throttle "cam?" I guess that's what you call it. Or linkage...
Anyways, it was bent into the center tunnel. It doesn't have that tight, crisp feel. Instead, it's really wobbly. Maybe I should get in touch with Bruce Stone...Attached Image

Typically this means the plastic bushes are shot.
The common solution is to rebuild the cluster with Bronze bushes.
The bigger question is perhaps why they are shot, age? just plain worn out or
leakage (brake MC) which will soften & destroy the OG bushes.
Your pic looks pretty dry? But you have to pull it to really tell
