Hi all!

Been having a no-start issue, and had my car taken to a well-regarded 914 shop. They informed us that their policy is that they only use brand-new parts that they source themselves.

Outside of the no-start issue, it appears that the NOS fuel injectors that we had put on it are leaking, alongside the short hoses leading to them. We just replaced the whole fuel system with Tangerine Racing stainless lines with new rubber.

They said that the tiny rubber lines are backordered, and the injectors run about $500 per. I'm confused, as I see hundreds of listings for part FJ67 for $120 online. Am I missing something here?

Let me know if i am overreacting.

I recently went through replacing all 4 injectors, the 4 injector rubber elbows (which I believe is what you’re referring to as “short hoses”), and all rubber lines in engine compartment.

I had never done this work on any car including my 914. The FJ67s were about $125 each. The spool of correct high pressure fuel injection Barricade line was less than $100. While the 914 FI elbows are “out of stock” in most 914 online parts vendors there is an easy, inexpensive solution. Click on my profile name and search “member’s topics” to get those details and links. You can get 4 injector elbows for less than $20.

Total time to install everything (with proper FI clamps) for a novice like me was about 4 hours. Someone who’s done it before, probably half that or less. Total amount spent for everything above less than $600 months total.

Thus, that shop is trying to rob you blind.

As others have suggested, send your injectors to Mr. Injectors for inspection, analysis, cleaning. Then go from there. I would find a 914 member near you to put the injectors and elbows on for the price of a case of beer or a nice bottle of wine. Plenty of fine folks here willing to help. I would help if you were near me.
