There are a couple of copies of this early 70s dealership poster for sale online. One says 1972. The other says undated from a calendar. It's on Bowlsby's site as well, and he listed it as as 1974D:
https://bowlsby.net/914/Classic/Posters.htm I have a ton of questions, but I'll just ask it this way: what can we tell about the car from this image? Steve 1972 914-4 Bahia Red |

about the only info you can extrapolate from that photo is via the registration plate.
first two letters. LO = district of Lorrach in Baden-Wurttemberg. south of stuttgart and very close to the border with swizterland. the following two letters and number = ES 1 could well be a personalised number plate since the letter of only 1 is highly unusual for a german number plate of that period. usually is two more letters and four numbers on standard german number plate combinations of that period. but i can't say that for certain. its a guess. most of the 914s in factory literature have either stuttgart plates, wolfsburg plates or ludwigsburg plates. ludwigsburg was where the VW- Porsche HQ was located just north of Stuttgart. by far most of the 914 factory photos from the later years have ludwigsburg plates. not surprising as this is where the marketing groups offices were located. ---- another thing about that car is it has a dirty big giant porsche badge on the front hood. and it is a sticker/decal not a badge. none of the official VW-Porsche publicity has front badges on the cars in that era. there are some very early images from the prototyping phase that occasionally show pre production cars with the badge, but after that it is not there. i wonder if this photo has nothing to do with VW=Porsche GMBH marketing office and is instead a private photo for other purposes say a magazine or book publishing effort or a photo organised by a local dealer in that region. --------- i see nothing else on the car that would distinguish what year it is other than it is not a 75 for very obvious reasons.
