Decals for a 2.0 Options

For a 73 2.0, does someone know what the correct sticker is for the right front wheel arch? This one says it is for a 1.7 L.

Also, are there any decals in the engine compartment for a 73 2.0?

A Q though, the 73 1.7L (german language) was given by Jamie Donaldson...a very original 73 1.7L. Jamie can you confirm this decal is on your car? And perhaps its VIN?

I wonder if there was a labelling change somewhere along the line?

here is what i have on 1.7 in detail for your question.
( i don't really have a great many examples on file like i do for L jets).

73 1.7 EA engine (49 states). paint stamp 610. 8.2:1 high compression - requires high octane. 80 hp.


1. 03/74 production date. (presumed to be 49 states - octane label matches other confirmed EAs).





2. 07/73 production date. (right at end of production run of 73, confirmed 49 state delivery - so EA engine. Oklahoma Delivery car.






3. 07/73 production date. confirmed 49 state delivery - Florida. EA engine.
apologies for image of octane label. all there was. but you can see its not a plain grey 91 octane label. its the red letter one with the symbol.






4. 11/72 production date. confirmed 49 state delivery. engine stamp # 610 = EA engine.






5. 07/73 production date. scant documentation on this. presumed to be an EA.






73 1.7 EB engine (california). 613 paint stamp. low compression 7.3:1 can run on lower octane fuel as unleaded was when first introduced. 73 hp.

1. my one and only example. 07/72 production date. extremely early 73 MY. 128 down the line. 613 engine stamp. confirmed Caiif delivery.
this car was the subject of a topic here - owner was a member here. he posted detailed information as he cleaned up this car. true survivor car - fully intact. the documentation of his recommission and clean up was used for a BAT sale.








from this limited amount of material i have on 73 1.7s i draw a limited conclusion.

the EA hight compression engine equipped cars for 73 kept using the earlier fuel 98 octane sticker (that i believe is also on the 72 and earlier cars?).

the newly introduced EB version of the 1.7 engine with low compression for california
required the new 91 octane rating sticker - the same sticker used on the 73 2.0s.

from 73 on all the USA cars had the 91 octane sticker with the exception of the 49 state 1.7 in 1973.

one of the more interesting little bits of info i tripped over along the way was that the european (ROW) 1.8s of 74 and 75 had a compression ration of 8.6:1 - exactly the same as the 914/6. and higher than the original D jet WO/EA engines.
naturally required 98 RON as a minimum. those particular twin carb AN engines were sweet little engines. if i ever was to think of having another 914 (and i won't) and money was no object i would scour europe for one of those cars.
