1. Is the transaxle side of the speedometer cable meant to have a boot? I have seen one on a couple of cars that seem very original (photo from BaT, not my car). I don't see it listed in parts catalog. I bought a new speedo cable. It came with a boot for the firewall side. Nothing for the transaxle side.
![]() 2. The nut on the speedo cable has a couple tabs and small holes. Almost like safety wire holes. Do they have a purpose? ![]() 3. Is the clamp that holds the speedo, clutch, and accelerator cables something special? I could not find a way to orient a common Norma clamp to attach to the bracket in a way that is oriented for the cable direction. The clamp opening would be running perpendicular, instead of parallel to the cable run. ![]() Thank you. |

Correct OEM speedo cables have not been available for years . The originals had a different alloy nut with a rim to hold a proper boot. Same for 914 6 clutch cables which were larger dameter cable than those for four cyl cars. Want to post pics but my laptop is misbehaving. |
