914 Build Off winners, Warning CAR PORN Options

It seems like we are past due for doing another 914 World Build-Off Challenge, everyone else is having fun with them.
Frances is in one for SEMA and she is at the end of her build. I went down to help her get as much done as she could before leaving for school. She got the car running by her deadline, but it still isn't done and has a little way to go. It was awesome to get to go down and help but It gave me flashbacks to doing the build-off on my car with Cary.<a href="http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?s=&showtopic=275587&view=findpost&p=2298492" target="_blank"></a>

Then I went from Southern California to Monterey Car Week and attended Werks Runion. Once again, there was a build-off challenge. This build-off challenge was among the Porsche Classic dealerships. Spoiler Alert: A 914 won AGAIN!

So I don't think that all of this is a coincidence. I think we should bring back a 914 World Build-Off Challenge to help people get their cars back on the road. It was extremely fun and I know of a few people who are already down.

I think that the real win for anyone participating is that it helps make progress and make better connections with the community. Don't get me wrong, I don't think any of us grew up getting participation trophies (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) and expecting something unearned, but I think everyone should get the support of each other to get (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) Done.
To that end, I think that there can be lots of categories as long as we have a few people in each one to "Compete" with if you are motivated that way.
Chris said he was "not eligible" to participate last time (because he is a pro?) I don't think that should matter but it may make it harder for you to win Most Improved.

I put a note in the newsletter today for 9/14 weekend to invite more people to help with rule ideas, but I think we have a pretty good start on them so far.

Last time, we had to post at least once a month with our progress. That was part of the fun for everyone else watching. That was before everyone was on social media (which is easier to post to), but we want people coming and participating in the 914World community. It is easier for people to go back through the build thread and see your starting condition of the car, what your goal is by 9/14/27, and we can rig up something to make voting easy. I believe the way that it works for Frances with the Sema build is that when it gets down to the final 3, they have to be the ones to determine who won. Don't know if that could work here, but who isn't going to vote for her (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif)
