How do you tell if a shift rod is bent?
I've looked at pictures of others from the same angle, and it appears mine may be bent. Is there any way to tell without buying another one?  |

Easy-ish way to tell, the front and back mounting part need to be in the same plane.
Meaning, they need to rotate around the same axis. Any bends in the rod in the middle (and there are many by design) won't affect the rotation if both ends are in the same plane. If the ends aren't in the same plane, rotating the rod around one end will make the other end change its location in space. That will cause the rod to bind and you'll be fighting your shifter.
