Quoted $2.4k for injectors, Wondering if there is a better way Options

Hi all!

Been having a no-start issue, and had my car taken to a well-regarded 914 shop. They informed us that their policy is that they only use brand-new parts that they source themselves.

Outside of the no-start issue, it appears that the NOS fuel injectors that we had put on it are leaking, alongside the short hoses leading to them. We just replaced the whole fuel system with Tangerine Racing stainless lines with new rubber.

They said that the tiny rubber lines are backordered, and the injectors run about $500 per. I'm confused, as I see hundreds of listings for part FJ67 for $120 online. Am I missing something here?

Actual cost on FJ67s is less than 100 bucks a piece.

500 if they were talking the whole set maybe.

Shops only installing parts they source is not uncommon, but those prices are out there.

I don't have the factory book in front of me at this exact moment but I know even factory book time to replace 4 injectors was less than 2 hours.

The elbows are an absolute non issue, even if you don't know 914s.

Worst case replacing all the fuel lines in the engine bay at the same time with good German braded stuff you are still under 1000 bucks.

James, I've had several cars with the braided hoses seeping gas thru the cloth braid after the inside rubber deteriorated from ethanol gas. I stopped using it many years ago.

I bought a set of 4 FJ67's a few years ago when an original hose gave up and started leaking.
Replaced the one without looking at the other 3 I ordered. My mistake. I ended up with 2 having a straight run hose and one with the "90 degree" hose.
Recently, I'd been seeking some "busy work" and I started only to find my plans were sabotaged.

I called to Bill and he asked me about the color of the bodies. I told him two were black and one was shiny at the business end. All the numbers on the injectors were identical, but the boxes were different. He was curious as was I but neither of us had a good answer. He did offer some advice for using what I have by using a spring inside the bore of the hose allowing it to bend without kinking.
