Hello,
I’ve just rebuilt a 1971 2.2T engine, with the intention of installing it in my 914. As I understand it, it should be possible to mate the existing side-shift gearbox to the 2.2T engine by using an early flywheel, while retaining the existing 914 clutch. Is this correct? Thanks in advance |

Yes, that is the exact combination I have in my car. I recall that I used the 914 pressure plate and clutch, but I'd have to check.
BTW - Don't neglect the main shaft support bearing and washer that sits in the flywheel / crank area - suggest renew that and the clutch throwout bearing at the same time. Also the (nylon?) pivot bushing, as these crumble over time. - Tony |
