Maybe Marty can weigh in on this. The 3.0 liter twin turbo motor in my Macan GTS is so freaking amazing, I wonder if it would fit in a 914? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Only 3) things needed; Torch, Hammer, Machine shop (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
The h2o cooled Macan, Cayenne engines have great dry sump oiling systems, however the system is internally placed in the 'Pan. This creates a very deep and low hanging oil pan...if you plan to build an 'Offroad 914 jacked up >>you will probably not scrape the oil pan, it is approx 9" lower than the centerline of crankshaft.
Custom cnc machined aluminum low-profile oil-pan, combined with an external dry sump pump is the solution.
Also the requirement for a cnc aluminum adapter plate for use with a manual transaxle, as these engines do not resemble a standard VW/ or Porsche bolt pattern for direct interfit. The OE crank trigger signals are located back in the starter-ring area...so to simplify your ecu management > a new trigger should be adapted to the front of the crank area.
Front & custom dry sump pan, dry sump pump, crank trigger wheel.
Note the centerline distance of the crank pulley-to-bottom of pan, it's "911/ 9146 like" with ample ground clearance.
