1. Is the transaxle side of the speedometer cable meant to have a boot? I have seen one on a couple of cars that seem very original (photo from BaT, not my car). I don't see it listed in parts catalog. I bought a new speedo cable. It came with a boot for the firewall side. Nothing for the transaxle side.

2. The nut on the speedo cable has a couple tabs and small holes. Almost like safety wire holes. Do they have a purpose?

3. Is the clamp that holds the speedo, clutch, and accelerator cables something special? I could not find a way to orient a common Norma clamp to attach to the bracket in a way that is oriented for the cable direction. The clamp opening would be running perpendicular, instead of parallel to the cable run.

Thank you.

Does anyone have a close up photo of the clamp as originally found on a 914-6? The part number (999-511-076-02) appears to be a standard Norma 18 clamp, but there's no way that's fitting in there.

I've looked through several mostly original cars on BaT, but can't find a close up view of this area to determine what that clamp looks like or how it's attached. Maybe the shape of the tab on new Dansk heat exchanger isn't correct?

Thanks.
