Our little blue car hit the road for the first time in over 19 years. My dad bought this 1970 914-6 as a roller in 2007. It sat untouched until I started working on it in 2022. I would fly half-way across the country to visit him and chip away at it in 1 week bursts.

Thank you so much to everyone that humored my questions and provided valuable insight to help further our project. I could not have done it without the knowledgable and generous community at 914World.

It now has:
  • Engine completely rebuilt
  • Transaxle refurb by CMS
  • Fuel system replaced
  • Brake system replaced
  • Suspension replaced
  • Lots of DAPO corrections
It is still a rough little car aesthetically, but finally roadworthy. I will have the car trailered to NorCal soon. I look forward to seeing you on the road!

Well that is great news and a Huge milestone on the course of an extraordinary effort.

Your dad had a good eye when he got this car and that is a worthy outcome. Having a mechanically sound car with some aesthetic issues is not a bad place to be at all. It is just part of the car’s story and more importantly the owner’s stories, and your’s is a great one!!

Thanks for sharing and enjoy the drive!
