Back on the Road After 19 Years, 1970 Factory 914-6 Options

[DennisV]

Our little blue car hit the road for the first time in over 19 years. My dad bought this 1970 914-6 as a roller in 2007. It sat untouched until I started working on it in 2022. I would fly half-way across the country to visit him and chip away at it in 1 week bursts.

Thank you so much to everyone that humored my questions and provided valuable insight to help further our project. I could not have done it without the knowledgable and generous community at 914World.

It now has:

• Engine completely rebuilt
• Transaxle refurb by CMS
• Fuel system replaced
• Brake system replaced
• Suspension replaced
• Lots of DAPO corrections

It is still a rough little car aesthetically, but finally roadworthy. I will have the car trailered to NorCal soon. I look forward to seeing you on the road!

@DennisV - Awesome! It's hard enough to get stuff done when the car is "right there". I can't imagine the fortitude it took to stick with getting this done. Impressive. Let me know when the car is back to your place in CA. We'll schedule a "Welcome to Sonoma County!" lunch At The Red Barn and get all the local 914 folk together to pat you on the back personally! Way to go! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
